What makes our design tick?
Beyond the design aesthetic and functionality, we believe the ideal design shall be sustainable, buildable, livable, feasible and future-proof.
We start the process by assessing the three components – environmental, economic and social factors.
Environment
Ideally, the design shall conserve, improve and bring balance to the natural environment. We minimize environmental alteration by improving the resiliency and rejuvenating the original natural characteristics of the land. Then, we use creativity to enchant, to make something iconic from the ordinary.
In this context, some actions are;
-
Nature Revitalization. Revitalize the land by nature mimicry, improving the quality of soil, water and native plant selections.
-
Heat Island Reduction. More greenery for better comfort; provides shade, saves power, improves air quality, absorbs pollutants and provides edibles.
-
Bio-Diversity Enhancement. Conserve and enhance the wildlife habitats to stabilize the ecosystems that can help regulate the climate and eventually natural disasters.
-
Climate Resilience. Improve the design’s ability to sustain desired ecological functions and perpetual critical processes under volatile conditions.
Economic
Every design will affect the amount of cost of building it. The tangible and practical design will be more efficient and faster to build. It challenges our creativity, and we make it an opportunity to design something that provides more with fewer resources needed.
We balance the aesthetic and purpose value to enhance the growth and advantage for all. Always remember, the most expensive doesn’t mean the best option.
In this context, we focus on;
-
Circular Economy. Strategize the design project life cycle by improving durability, reducing raw materials and reusing waste.
-
Financial Feasibility. Plan critical cash flow for any design and strategize the project to be fiscally viable.
-
Profitability. Foresee the potential income and expenses generated by the design and subsidiary. Efficiency and practicality affect profitability and ROI.
-
Value & Job Creation. Develop a design that brings better value, benefits the community and provides equity for all.
Social
A new design project establishes a new social identity. Therefore, always consider embedding unique local characters in the design process. Make it cohesive, contextual to its’ surroundings and local cultures and responsive to global challenges.
Inclusivity is a must in our design. It should be accessible and enjoyable for all walks of life.
In this context, we focus on;
-
Liveability. Develop a design that improves the quality of life of many and is contextual to local culture.
-
Loveability. It is the human factor of the place, the experience that evokes users’ emotions, sense of belonging and senses.
-
Collaborative Engagement. Engage dialogue with experts, users and clients to get a unified idea and the best solution. It is also the best way to get fresh ideas and understand the greater perspective of the project.
-
Neighbourhood Development. Involve the neighbourhood community to set out the project vision. Strategize the ideal way to improve the livelihood quality of the project and its’ surrounding.
Well, those are our approaches to sustainability in a nutshell. We hope it gives a glimpse of what makes our design tick.
